Job summary

ICR in Aberdeen is seeking a Graduate Design Engineer to support the assessment, design, documentation, and delivery of composite repair solutions. This entry-level role focuses on developing competence in repair design, pressure equipment integrity, and international standards.

You will work under supervision to review design data, prepare calculations, and assist with field and project delivery activities, with graduates typically progressing over two years.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Civil/Structural Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Basic understanding of mechanical engineering principles, stress, pressure containment, materials, and engineering calculations.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, piping isometrics, inspection reports, and technical specifications.
• Strong numeracy, attention to detail, and willingness to learn.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design composite repairs per ISO 24817 and ASME PCC-2.
• Create engineering drawings in AutoCAD.
• Perform Excel calculations per ISO 24817/ASME PCC-2.
• Review inspection reports and drawings.
• Prepare reports, sketches, take-offs.
• Assess piping/structural defects (corrosion, erosion, wall loss).
• Support operational delivery and client discussions.
• Assist sales with Technowrap products and inquiries.
• Prepare repair method statements and quality docs.
• Learn pressure equipment, composites, laminates, bonding, curing.
• Participate in project/technical reviews.
• Assist onsite technicians with design queries.
• Maintain records and QA/docs.
• On-call support when required.
