Graduate Design Engineer
Location: Huddersfield
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Working Hours: 38.75 hours per week

Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Graduate Design Engineer to join a well-established engineering business.This role plays a key part in the development and delivery of both new and existing valve products, supporting the engineering team in meeting industry and customer-specific requirements.

Key Responsibilities of the Graduate Design Engineer
As a Graduate Design Engineer, you will support the engineering function with tasks including:

  • Creating general assembly and manufacturing drawings using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD.
  • Preparing bills of materials within the company's MRP system.
  • Assisting in the creation of installation, operation, and maintenance manuals.
  • Supporting the design and development of valve products in line with industry standards (e.g., ASME VIII, ASME B16.34, API 6A/6D).
  • Contributing to troubleshooting and resolving product performance issues.
  • Assisting in the preparation of factory test procedures.
  • Collaborating with departments such as R&D, Sales, and Production.

Skills & Experience Required for Graduate Design Engineer

  • Strong design skills, ideally with an interest in valve or mechanical product design.
  • Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software (Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD preferred).
  • Understanding of engineering drawing standards (BS8888).
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
  • Exposure to pressure vessel design (training will be provided if needed).
