Office Angels is recruiting a Graduate Design Engineer in the Rural Dartford area. The role focuses on fire safety systems design, rotating through the design lifecycle over 12 months with mentorship and progression toward a Designer role.

Monday to Friday, office based, 37.5 hours. The package includes a £30,000 annual salary plus benefits such as 25 days leave, life insurance, private healthcare, parking and ongoing career opportunities.

• Degree or Level 3+ qualification in Engineering, Building Services, Physics or equivalent relevant experience.
• Strong, clear and professional technical communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Interpret fire strategies and customer specifications into working system designs, with support from senior team members.
• Write comprehensive technical design documentation.
• Produce and edit CAD drawings using AutoCAD.
• Conduct design calculations under supervision to validate designs.
• Collaborate with senior designers, engineers and clients.
• Attend design and project handover meetings to ensure seamless transitions.
• Support the preparation of O&M manuals and project closeouts.

About the Role:
The Graduate Design Engineer programme is designed as a launchpad for graduates and early-career candidates. Over the course of 12 months, successful candidates will rotate through the entire design lifecycle under close mentorship, gradually building towards independent competence as a Designer. This structured programme aligns with university leaving dates and concludes with a qualifying exam-satisfactory completion and a pass are essential to progress to a Designer role.

Key Responsibilities:

Requirements - Essential:

• A degree or Level 3+ qualification in Engineering, Building Services, Physics, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Strong, clear, and professional technical communication skills.
• Excellent time management abilities and capacity to juggle multiple live projects.
• A proactive team player with a 'get it done' mindset.
• Confidence in using Microsoft Office and Windows OS.

Requirements - Desirable:

• Prior knowledge of smoke control systems (mechanical or natural) and ventilation.
• Familiarity with fire detection and alarm systems.
• Exposure to HVAC or electrical building services.
• Experience with AutoCAD or similar 2D CAD tools.
