Job description

Aureos is looking for Graduate Design Engineers to undertake an on-job development role aimed at becoming a Substation Design Engineer. The role involves working as part of a substations design team to deliver BIM (Building Information Modeling) and CAD (Computer-Aided Design) designs for secondary and primary electrical systems. Projects include renewables, battery energy storage systems, transmission, and distribution.

This is a unique opportunity to work on projects that enable clean energy and to develop your engineering career.

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Acquire knowledge of designing primary or secondary systems on a substation through on-job training.
  2. Master CAD and design tools applicable to the role.
  3. Develop understanding of CDM and safety standards and procedures.
  4. Assist in delivering engineering and design documents under the guidance of senior engineers.
  5. Contribute to assignments to deliver designs as directed by senior staff.
  6. Conduct site surveys and coordinate with site teams as needed.
  7. Create 3D models and CAD technical drawings.
  8. Manage documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
  9. Provide administrative support related to project tasks.
  10. Ensure performance aligns with Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for on-time delivery, requirements management, and first-time accuracy.
  11. Deliver design work that meets quality standards and KPI targets.
  12. Complete design tasks within the project timelines.
  13. Ensure designs comply with project information and employer requirements.
  14. Adhere to applicable standards and specifications in design work.
Skills, Experience, and Qualifications
  • University degree in electrical power systems, machines, or related fields.
  • Knowledge of CAD tools and BIM environment.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and SharePoint.
  • Ability to work effectively in teams.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn and develop professionally.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical standards and regulations.
  • Understanding of substations, primary plant, protection, control, SCADA, transformers, switchgear, batteries, cabling, earthing, and lighting standards.
