Having working knowledge of SQL Server 2019 would be beneficial.


YouGov Sport has developed a proprietary web-based dashboard to allow our clients access to in-depth, comprehensive research data, enabling them to carry out instant, ad-hoc analysis of key metrics relating to their effectiveness across multiple media channels.Using yourinterestindatabasedevelopments, builds, migrations and upgrades, you willbe responsible forenhancing the performance of this dashboard and otherYouGov Sport systems.

Overall role objectives:

Work alongside experienced colleagues to maintenance and develop YouGov Sport databases, working towards taking ownership of their maintenance and optimisation.

As a Database Administrator, you will be supporting colleagues in developing, constructing, testing, and maintaining architectures, such as databases and large-scale processing systems

Here’s a breakdown of what you’ll do (not all of it, just the important stuff):

  • Design,develop,implement, andmaintaindatabase solutions using MS SQL Server, ensuring scalability, reliability,performanceand security.
  • Develop SQL DB objects as per the design and defined standards.
  • Maintain/ WritingSQL database schemas and scripts, including views, stored procedures,/ Dynamic queriesand triggers.
  • Extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from multiple databases to support reference data enhancements and new functionalities.
  • Optimizedatabase performance through indexing, query optimization, and other performance tuning techniques, especially for complex data sets.
  • Independently analyse, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours.
  • Provide support, guidance and collaborate with Application Developers to implement database design & solution.
  • Stayup to datewith emerging technologies and trends in database management and data engineering.
  • Provide support for critical production systems.
  • Monitor database performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise, working with IT operations teams to resolve problems.
  • Collaborate with system DBAs to help implement database changes, upgrades, and migrations.

These are the essentials you’ll need to get an interview:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience of working with MS SQL Server with the ability to write complexqueries,stored procedures,Functions, Views.
  • Experienceof optimizingperformance of web-based applications, with working knowledge of how it’s possible toidentifyand resolve performance bottlenecks
  • Familiarity with database design principles, including normalization, indexing, and datamodelling.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communicationand collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
