Job summary

Travail Employment Group in Doncaster is seeking a Graduate Controls Engineer to join a specialist machinery manufacturer partner. You'll gain hands-on training in industrial automation, electrical systems and control engineering, with a mix of workshop, site-based and customer-facing work.

The role offers a starting salary of £30,000, overtime paid after 42 hours, travel across the UK and occasional overseas assignments, plus structured development and training and opportunities to learn PLCs

Qualifications

• Degree, HND or HNC in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics or a related discipline.
• Strong interest in industrial automation and control systems.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.
• Good problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with the installation and commissioning of industrial machinery.
• Supporting electrical testing and fault-finding activities.
• Learning to configure inverter drives and control systems.
• Assisting with modifications to electrical drawings and schematics.
• Supporting machinery commissioning at customer sites.
• Providing technical support during installation and start-up projects.
• Helping to prepare technical documentation and commissioning reports.
• Working closely with electrical, mechanical and controls engineering teams.
• Travel is typically planned in advance and may include overseas assignments.

Graduate Controls Engineer

Are you a recent Electrical, Electronic, Automation or Mechatronics Engineering graduate looking to start your career with a specialist machinery manufacturer?

Due to continued growth and an increasing order book, we're looking for a Graduate Controls Engineer to join our engineering team in Doncaster. You'll receive hands-on training and support from experienced engineers while developing your skills in industrial automation, commissioning, electrical systems and controls engineering.

What we’re looking for:

Essential

• Degree, HND or HNC in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics or a related discipline
• Strong interest in industrial automation and control systems
• Basic understanding of electrical systems and engineering principles
• Good problem-solving skills
• Full UK driving licence or willingness to obtain one
• Willingness to travel when required

Desirable

• Placement year, internship or project work involving automation or controls
• Exposure to PLCs, HMIs or inverter drives
• Knowledge of industrial control systems
• Experience using CAD or electrical drawing software
• Understanding of electrical testing and fault-finding principles

Hours & Benefits:

• Working Hours: Monday to Thursday, 8:00am-5:00pm, Friday 8:00am-4:30pm
• Holidays: 20 days plus Bank Holidays, Birthday Off, plus an additional day's holiday for each completed year of service up to a maximum of 25 days annual leave.
