Job description

Nicholsons' Landscape Architecture team is growing and we have an increasing number of schemes for prestigious clients across Oxfordshire, Northamptonshire, Hampshire and North Wales. Our current landscape architecture portfolio covers a range of sectors and includes:

· Large scale mixed use master planning projects

· Residential projects

· Design code work

· Educational and R&D campus design

· Recreation and tourism design

· Commercial and industrial projects encompassing Green Infrastructure

We are looking for an enthusiastic, detail-driven graduate seeking to kick start a career in Landscape Architecture. As a graduate, there will be opportunities to support our team of industry professionals on a number of cross divisional projects. As part of the role, you will receive support and mentoring in working towards Chartership of the Landscape Institute (Pathway to Chartership). The role requires someone who is innovative, keen to contribute to a creative team, has good written and verbal communication skills and has a keen eye for quality.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assisting senior landscape architects in all aspects of project work
  • Client meetings
  • Developing graphics and visual material to support concept designs
  • Producing accurate CAD plans and details for detailed design packages
  • Preparing planting plans
  • Attending client meetings during both concept and site stages
  • Organising and contributing to Continuing Professional Development activities

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be a team player who takes initiative
  • Hold a bachelors degree in Landscape Architecture, a diploma in Landscape Garden Design, or a degree in a related subject
  • Show evidence of design skills
  • Competence in CAD & software packages (e.g. Vectorworks, Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign), Microsoft 365)
  • Have some knowledge of construction detailing for landscapes
  • Have a passion for sustainability within design
  • Be looking to acquire new skills
  • Have a full, clean UK driving licence

Desirable:

  • Competence in CAD software e.g. Sketchup, AutoCAD, 3dsMax, KeySCAPE, Rhino etc
  • Good plant knowledge or experience working in horticulture
  • Some experience working in a design studio (1-2 years)

This position is a full-time role. Monday to Friday, 7.30am to 4.30pm (40 hours per week). To ensure you can properly support the team, you will be required to work in the design office, in-person on all working days.
