Job description

With every community, Stantec redefines what’s possible.

Application Deadline: Recruitment is ongoing. Please apply as soon as possible, as the advert may close once we have sufficient applicants.

Your role:

We are looking for a Graduate Civil Engineer to be based in our Edinburgh office, joining our 2026 Graduate Programme.

You will be involved in significant projects in our water division from day one, both locally and nationally. From outline to detailed design, you’ll contribute by producing drawings and design calculations to develop better methods for obtaining, cleaning, and distributing water for our communities (e.g., flood alleviation or pollution management schemes). Your daily tasks will include using mapping software such as ArcGIS, technical report writing, survey specifications, and undertaking site visits.

Clients you could work with include Northumbrian Water, for which Stantec has been appointed to their capital framework for North East infrastructure work. This involves supporting their ambitious framework programme, including the design, construction, and commissioning of new water and wastewater infrastructure assets, as well as modifications and refurbishments of existing assets. • A Perseverer: able to stay composed in the face of setbacks, approaching challenges with confidence and determination.
  • A Collaborator: effective at working with different people, considering others’ perspectives to shape better outcomes.
  • A Problem-Solver: passionate about sharing your thoughts based on observations, unafraid to challenge conventional thinking.

Please note: We ask our graduates to come into the office 4 days per week to ensure colleagues can provide appropriate support.

What we can offer you:

  • A competitive salary
  • Private medical insurance
  • A range of benefits, including holiday buy and sell, group income protection, and life assurance
