Arup in the United Kingdom invites applications for a Graduate Civil Engineer role in our Newcastle team. You will contribute to planning, design and delivery of energy infrastructure projects, from hydrogen to energy storage, working with experienced specialists and using industry-leading digital tools.

Our Civil Engineering team works at the heart of the energy transition, helping to deliver the infrastructure needed to connect renewable energy and improve the resilience of electricity networks. We support major projects across hydrogen and sustainable fuels, offshore wind, transmission and distribution, energy storage, nuclear, HVDC infrastructure and pumped storage hydro. As a graduate engineer, you will work alongside experienced specialists and gain hands‑on experience in the planning, design and delivery of civil infrastructure, including site development, earthworks, drainage, highways and access arrangements. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, use industry-leading digital tools and contribute to projects that have a lasting impact on the UK's net‑zero ambitions.
For this opportunity, we are seeking the following qualifications, skills and attributes: Masters level in relevant academic discipline, such as Civil Engineering, Construction Management; Ground / Geotechnical Engineering; Structural Engineering.
Skills and experience in Civil Engineering Design Principles; Engineering Drawing Interpretation; AutoCAD; Drainage and Surface Water Design; Earthworks and Highway Design; Technical Report Writing; Data Analysis and Visualisation; Problem Solving and Engineering Calculations. Civil 3D; GIS (ArcGIS/QGIS); Microsoft Excel; BIM Awareness (ISO 19650); Revit (basic understanding);
