About The Role

Roles and Responsibilities

HSEQ

• Understand the roles and responsibilities of Acumen regarding HSE and other regulatory compliance.
• Propose alternative processes and technologies to improve the company’s HSEQ offerings.
• Contribute to systems and procedures related to ISO accreditations (e.g., 9001, 14001, 18001) and ensure they are developed, implemented, and maintained.
• Ensure timely completion and submission of Waste and Haz Waste Returns.

Commercial

• Maintain and improve profit margins where possible.
• Understand disposal costs and seek reductions.
• Identify opportunities for cost efficiencies, including transportation.
• Ensure proper use of company systems like Big Change Apps to ensure compliance.
• Deliver work to the highest standards.
• Manage specialist suppliers and subcontractors, controlling costs.
• Collaborate with the Technical Manager to source haulage and disposal prices and find new suppliers.
• Negotiate with customers and suppliers when necessary.

Technical

• Accurately record and report technical data, with checks in place for completeness and accuracy.
• Ensure compliance with legislative requirements.
• Support services related to drum/IBC/package lists with correct EWC and UN codes.
• Assist in onsite correlation of waste containers on customer sites.
• Ensure JICs contain correct handling, PPE, RPE, and fittings information.
• Support operations in cost-effective transport and service provision.
• Validate customer paperwork and labels for compliance.
• Assist in supervising vehicle loading and labeling.
• Maintain records on a central database and ensure timely updates.
• Keep the ASC database updated, including onsite supplier audits.

Operational

• Ensure compliance with environmental permits, planning permissions, and applicable legislation.
• Operate in a safe, compliant, and commercially sound manner.
• Maintain plant and equipment, including procurement and certification.
• Deliver results that promote excellence, customer satisfaction, and improved subcontractor and supplier performance.
