Job description

Your career

Our software is designed, built and tested in-house, as such we have roles that cover the full software development lifecycle, including business analysts, software developers, system testers and technical support engineers. Depending on your background and preferences you will be assigned an appropriate discipline to enable you to learn and develop new skills in both IT and the energy industry. After a time graduates may wish to specialise in a single discipline or move between disciplines to gain a broader range of IT skills and experience.

What we look for

Our aim is to be recognised as the leading software company in the energy sector and so we are looking for smart people to help us achieve that – intelligent, outgoing, pragmatic and hard-working individuals with a genuine interest in IT. We recruit graduates and postgraduates from IT and scientific disciplines and successful applicants are likely to have an outstanding academic record at A level and a good degree from a UK university. We are looking for candidates who have had some work experience in the IT sector such as programming, testing or IT support or who can demonstrate excellence and enthusiasm through relevant project work.

We use a variety of highly regarded and highly sought after technologies including Java, Oracle, Jira, VMWare, Windows and Linux. This provides all successful candidates with a strong foundation for their future careers.

Your training and development

Our staff are supported at all times in their roles, coaching and training are provided and our induction process ensures that new starters are introduced to IT, our ways of working and our systems in a structured manner. New recruits quickly gain exposure to all aspects of software development and learn what a role entails by doing it from day one. We encourage and fund staff to gain industry qualifications in their chosen disciplines which enhances their skills as well as their CVs.

As a relatively small company employing 80 people, you will find the atmosphere warm and friendly. Whilst we’re a fast-growing company we are keen to retain our small company ethos of completing work efficiently and exposing people to a variety of work. We are looking to take on a number of graduates every year into our well-established graduate programme.

The rewards

Graduates start on a salary of £23,000 plus benefits which consist of life assurance, health insurance and a contributory pension scheme. Bonuses can also be paid based on company and individual performance. Your salary will grow quickly as you progress and we aim to reward well to ensure we gain and retain the best people.

If you think you are one of the people that we’re looking for and you would like to know more about us and the opportunities we have here at EDW then please send an email in the first instance with a covering letter and a copy of your CV to jobs@edwtech.com and see our web site at www.edwtech.com.
