This is a full-time role based at our new custom-built facility in Harwell, Oxfordshire. Amber is a pioneering neuromodulation company dedicated to transforming the lives of patients through advanced medical technology. We specialize in the development of cutting-edge active implantable medical devices.
The RoleAn exciting opportunity to contribute to the development and translation of cutting-edge neuromodulation systems into clinical applications. You will support research, data analysis, and clinical translation across a range of technical projects. A key focus will include system integration testing and the accurate development and maintenance of technical documentation, including user manuals and related files, which are essential to the safety and performance of Amber's medical devices.
Key Responsibilities:- Analyse physiological and clinical datasets using tools like Python.
- Apply data science methods to support system characterisation and algorithm development.
- Maintain and update product documentation (e.g. IFUs, user training), ensuring regulatory compliance and accuracy.
- Support systems engineering including requirements development, verification, and validation planning.
- Conduct ongoing system integration testing to continuously identify device improvements.
- Provide technical support to the clinical team during clinical procedures including setup, troubleshooting, and data acquisition.
- Assist in preparing for clinical trials ensuring documentation and training materials are available and maintained.
- Support the development of research protocols and methodologies in collaboration with clinical and engineering teams.
- Contribute to technical cross-functional projects across software, hardware, and clinical teams.
- Maintain clear, traceable documentation and structured records in line with quality systems.
- Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and brainstorming sessions with a focus on detail and traceability.
Skills & ExperienceEssential:- Degree (BEng, MEng, MSc) in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated project or internship experience in biomedical engineering or medical technology.
- Experience with physiological signal processing and handling biomedical datasets.
- Familiarity with data science tools and workflows, including Python, MATLAB, or similar.
- Ability to manage and maintain documentation in a structured, compliant format.
Desirable:- Experience working in regulated medical device environments (e.g., ISO 13485, FDA, MDR).
- Familiarity with neuromodulation or implantable devices.
- Exposure to clinical trials or working with clinical teams.
- Knowledge of systems engineering practices, including requirements and risk management.
