Responsibilities

  • Assisting in the preparation of project programmes and monitoring key deadlines and milestones.
  • Recording minutes and actions from project meetings and supporting the analysis of project data and performance information.
  • Providing updates to clients on project progress and maintaining regular communication to understand and respond to client requirements.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date project documentation and records.
  • Assisting with the preparation and administration of contract documentation.
  • Attending project meetings and site visits, including design team meetings and contractor progress meetings, depending on the project stage.
  • Supporting Project Managers in the delivery of project objectives and key deliverables.
  • Preparing performance reports, ranking reports and regular project progress updates.
  • Supporting the collection, development and analysis of project data to inform decision-making and project objectives.
  • Building and maintaining positive relationships with clients and other project stakeholders.
  • Assisting with the development and implementation of action plans to support effective management of time, resources and processes.
  • Supporting the delivery of project activities and providing assistance to help ensure projects are completed successfully and on schedule.
  • Liaising with Project Managers and project leads to help maintain project programmes and overall project effectiveness.
  • Monitoring project implementation and gathering information on project progress and performance.
  • Coordinating with Project Managers and project teams during project close-out and completion activities.

Summary

At Gardiner & Theobald, Project Managers play a key role in the successful planning and delivery of construction and infrastructure projects. They coordinate project teams, manage programmes, facilitate effective communication and help guide projects from inception through to completion.

Project Managers work closely with clients, consultants, contractors and other stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and in line with client objectives. Effective stakeholder management, communication and risk management are central to the role.

Role Overview

As an Assistant Project Manager, you will spend 2-2.5 years working towards Chartered membership of RICS while also gaining valuable work experience. You will be working towards becoming a professional with expert knowledge of leading and managing a project team.

You will join the G&T Accelerate Programme, combining real responsibility, expert mentoring and accredited training to help you gain a professional qualification and accelerate your career, ensuring you can relate the theoretical aspects of your studies to actual work experience. Over the course of the programme, you will gain valuable experience across a variety of projects while developing the technical, commercial and leadership skills required to become a successful Project Manager.

The role will be varied, and the actual experience gained will be dependent on the team and sector you are working in.

Working within a team, you will be assisting your line manager with various aspects of daily work. In this role you will be expected to work with a certain level of autonomy while also knowing when to discuss and ask questions to ensure the best outcome.

You will be building a solid knowledge base of your role, the firm and the industry, and how they all fit together.

Cognate Degree Holders: 2 Years

Non-Cognate Degree Holders: 2.5 Years
