Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Graduate Aquatic Ecologist to support consultancy across Nottingham, Leeds, Edinburgh and Basingstoke with a hybrid work model and active project involvement.

You will help with fieldwork, data collection, and laboratory analysis of aquatic surveys, collaborating with ecologists and water scientists to deliver high-quality outputs.

Required: degree in Aquatic Ecology or related field (MSc preferred; BSc considered), freshwater experience, and solid IT and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Degree in Aquatic Ecology or related field; MSc preferred, BSc considered
• Freshwater experience essential
• Laboratory macroinvertebrate analysis experience
• Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Strong numeracy and data handling
• Clear written and verbal communication

Responsibilities

• Support delivery of existing and new contracts for aquatic surveys and data collection
• Conduct laboratory macroinvertebrate analysis in Leeds or Nottingham lab
• Assist with terrestrial ecology surveys as needed
• Collaborate with UK&I ecologists and water scientists
• Communicate with managers, clients and project teams in writing and meetings
• Follow health, safety and quality procedures and maintain client relationships
• Assist with additional administrative duties to support the team
