We now have an exciting new opportunity for a Graduate Apprentice to join the team in a role which will develop into the specialist area of network design and cyber security
Main Responsibilities
- Working alongside our IT network team in the following areas:
- Network architecture Design
- Managing Security Risk and understanding secure networking techniques following industry best practice and Government guidelines
- Protecting against Cyber Attack
- Detecting Cyber Security Threats
- Minimising the impact of cyber security incidents.
- Working in our Engineering and network deployment team to gain a real world understanding of Operational Technology:
- IT Product configuration and implementation
- Network Detail Design, FAT planning and execution
- Installation of secure networking technology in operational networks
- Hands on experience of communication equipment, switching and router products including configuration and CLI scripting, following best practice and cyber security principles
- NMS management implementing fire walling and secure VPN tunnelling for remote monitoring of networks
You will also assist on specific projects to develop and deploy new technologies to support the firm going forward. In the course of your apprenticeship, you will develop to become experienced in a number of aspects of cyber and information security.
Initially you will work closely with our Engineering and Cyber Security Teams, you will develop and take ownership of specialist aspects of networks and cyber security. As part of your training and development, we will support you to undertake the Graduate Apprenticeship BSc (Hons) Cyber Security at Glasgow Caledonian University commencing in September 2025
You will have a passion for technology, in particular for networking and cyber security. You will have strong communication and teamwork skills, and a level of IT knowledge and experience which allows you to quickly build rapport with clients.
Independent relevant experience of IT, networking, infrastructure, cyber security, support, software development or web development gained outside school, college or work will be an advantage.
You must be committed to a four year development programme and meet the criteria for admission to the Graduate Apprenticeship BSc Cyber Security course at Glasgow Caledonian University (detailed below). Graduate Apprenticeships are open to applicants of any age in Scotland, there are no age restrictions.
SQA Higher: BBCC including Computing or Maths plus Nat 5 English at C, Nat 5 Maths at C.
For applicants with prior work experience and professional qualifications, there is a possibility to be considered through the university’s flexible entry system through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
This process allows prospective graduate apprentices to claim credit(s) against previously assessed and certificated learning, including informal learning, to be considered and recognised for academic purposes and credit within their course.
