Job summary

BUUK Infrastructure seeks a Graduate AI & Data Analyst to develop across AI, data analysis, data governance and responsible technology adoption. You will work under guidance and gain experience from AI Enablement and Data leadership, collaborating with Cyber Security, Software Engineering and PMO.

The role supports discovering, prototyping, testing, adoption and benefits tracking of AI and data opportunities, with a focus on trusted data and governance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in AI, data, CS or related analytic discipline.
• Equivalent qualification with interest in AI, data and analytics.

Responsibilities

• Support workshops with business teams to understand problems, information needs, processes and opportunities for AI or data-enabled solutions.
• Help document requirements, use cases, value hypotheses, assumptions, dependencies, data needs and success measures.
• Research relevant AI and data capabilities, good practice and market developments, presenting findings clearly.
• Assist with process mapping and improvement before technology selection.
• Assist with data exploration, profiling, cleansing, reconciliation, transformation, analysis and visualisation.
• Support SQL queries, repeatable data preparation, automated quality checks and data-product documentation.
• Produce supervised reports, dashboards and insights using agreed tools, definitions and controls.
• Help investigate data issues and document assumptions, limitations and remediation actions.

We are looking for a Graduate AI & Data Analystwho would like to help us reach our mission to “earn customer loyalty and drive business growth by providing consistently excellent service”.

(The graduate scheme follows a three-stage interview process. Candidates who are successful at the telephone interview stage will be invited to attend an Assessment Centre at our head office in Woolpit, Suffolk on Thursday 3rd December. Please note that this is currently the only Assessment Centre scheduled).

Purpose of this role

The Graduate AI & Data Analyst is an entry-level development role designed for a recent graduate who wants to build a career across artificial intelligence, data analysis, data engineering, analytics, data governance and responsible technology adoption. The role will work across AI Enablement and Platform Services & Data, with a primary reporting line to the Manager, AI Enablement and structured development support from Data leadership.

Working under the guidance of experienced colleagues, the postholder will support business-led AI and data opportunities from discovery through to analysis, prototyping, testing, adoption and benefits tracking. The role will build practical experience in preparing trusted data, generating insight, supporting approved AI use cases, applying governance and communicating outcomes.

The role supports BUUK's objective of creating secure, governed and AI-ready data foundations while enabling responsible AI adoption and measurable business value in collaboration with business owners, Cyber Security, Software Engineering, Technology Services, project managers and the PMO.

Your key responsibilities are

Support workshops with business teams to understand problems, information needs, processes and opportunities for AI or data-enabled solutions.

Help document requirements, use cases, value hypotheses, assumptions, dependencies, data needs and success measures.

Research relevant AI and data capabilities, good practice and market developments, presenting findings clearly.

Assist with process mapping and improvement before technology selection.

Assist with data exploration, profiling, cleansing, reconciliation, transformation, analysis and visualisation.

Support SQL queries, repeatable data preparation, automated quality checks and data-product documentation.

Produce supervised reports, dashboards and insights using agreed tools, definitions and controls.

Help investigate data issues and document assumptions, limitations, lineage and remediation actions.

Support approved proofs of concept, pilots, testing and user feedback under appropriate supervision.

Assist with prompt design, data preparation, low-code solutions, testing and documentation using approved platforms.

Help test AI outputs for accuracy, reliability, transparency, safe operation and appropriate human oversight.

Work collaboratively with Data, Software Engineering, Technology Services, Cyber Security, project managers and the PMO to move approved initiatives into governed delivery and sustainable support.

Support data cataloguing, metadata, lineage, classification, ownership, stewardship and controlled access.

Assist with privacy, security, retention, supplier and responsible-AI assessments.

Help maintain risks, decisions, approvals, actions, data-quality information and benefits records.

Follow approved AI policies, data standards, security controls, governance processes and usage patterns.

Support the preparation of curated, structured, governed and accessible data for analytics and approved AI use cases.

Support demonstrations, communications, training, user guidance and communities of practice.

Gather adoption data, feedback, lessons learned and evidence of business benefits.

Produce clear analysis, progress updates, technical documentation and management information.

Complete structured objectives and placements across AI enablement, data analysis, data engineering, governance, cyber security, platforms and project delivery.

Receive coaching, mentoring and regular development reviews from AI and Data colleagues.

Undertake formal training and study towards agreed role-relevant certifications.

Build a practical portfolio of supervised AI, data and analytics work.

Travel between company locations may be required.

Standby or out-of-hours support is not initially expected.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Engineering or another relevant analytical or technology discipline.

Or

An equivalent qualification with a demonstrable interest in AI, data, analytics and technology-enabled change.

Experience/Knowledge

Basic understanding of AI, generative AI, machine learning, data analysis, databases or statistical concepts.

Awareness of data quality, governance, privacy, security, ethics, transparency and human-oversight considerations.

Familiarity with spreadsheets and at least one analytical, database, visualisation, programming or low-code tool.

Evidence of interest through study, projects, placements, volunteering, professional communities or independent learning.

Awareness of structured problem solving, requirements gathering, agile, product or project delivery is helpful.

No previous full-time AI or data experience is required.

Abilities/Skills

Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving potential.

Clear written, verbal, data-presentation and communication skills.

Ability to explain findings, uncertainty, limitations and technical ideas to technical and non-technical colleagues.

Curiosity about business processes, data, technology and responsible innovation.

Good organisation, time management and attention to detail.

Willingness to experiment within agreed controls, test assumptions, seek feedback and follow standards.

Integrity, professionalism and respect for confidential information.

Ability to work collaboratively across business, AI Enablement, Data, Cyber Security, IT and the PMO.

University, personal or placement projects involving AI, data analysis, data engineering, databases, visualisation, software, statistics, machine learning or process improvement.

Familiarity with SQL, Python, R, Power BI, Excel, Microsoft Fabric, Azure data services, Microsoft 365 Copilot, Azure AI, Power Platform or GitHub Copilot.

Awareness of data catalogues, metadata, data quality, master data, responsible AI, UK GDPR or information-security concepts.

Experience presenting analysis, prototypes or recommendations to an audience.

Interest in certifications such as Microsoft AI-900, DP-900, PL-300, PL-900, Azure Fundamentals or relevant DataCamp pathways.
