Job summary

Lliswerry High School in Newport is seeking a Grade 5 Librarian to join our busy Learning Zone. The role is part-time (18 hours per week, Mon-Thu 09:00–13:30) on a fixed-term basis until 31 August 2027, with potential extension subject to funding.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day access to the school library and Learning Zone.
• Issue, return and organise books and learning resources.
• Maintain library catalogue and ensure resources are accessible and up to date.
• Support learners in selecting books appropriate to their interests.
• Support the Accelerated Reader programme.
• Promote reading for pleasure and independent use of the library.
• Maintain the Learning Zone as a welcoming, safe space for learners.
• Monitor stock and assist with acquiring new resources.
• Help staff and learners locate books and learning materials.
• Encourage positive behaviour and responsible use of facilities.
