Job summary

A leading educational specialist school in St. Albans is looking for a Graduate Teaching Assistant to inspire and support students with special educational needs. This full-time role offers an excellent opportunity for psychology graduates to gain valuable experience while working with children who have Autism and related challenges. You will provide motivation and encouragement to pupils, ensuring they feel accepted and supported in their learning environment. Start date is set for September 2025.

Qualifications

  • Experience with SEN and some Anti-Social Behaviour.
  • Strong understanding of Autism, Aspergers, and non-verbal communication.
  • Ability to support students with learning difficulties.

Responsibilities

  • Motivate and support pupils with autism and mental health issues.
  • Assist students across EYFS, Primary, and Secondary levels.
  • Implement holistic techniques to engage non-verbal children.

Job: Grad Teaching Assistant

This specialist school provide for children with Autism and Social, Emotional and Mental Health issues.

Your role will be to motivate, support and encourage pupils within your remit.

The role will give you experience with SEN and some Anti-Social Behaviour. Excellent if you are sincere about a future career within mental health.

The role will consist of;

* Working with EYFS, Primary, and Secondary aged students all with EHCPs with Autism and Aspergers, OCD, verbal and non-verbal children
* Dealing with anti-social behaviour that will take getting used to, this is all part of the role when aiding society’s most
* A Real focus on Early Years and Non-Verbal students, holistic techniques to gain engagement
* Supporting Secondary aged students with levels of learning well below their stated age
* Positive engagement, giving the children a sense of acceptance, talking therapy will not always work here so different approaches required
