Job description

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking an accomplished technology leader to serve as the Global Head of Service Transition and Change Assurance. The role is accountable for defining and delivering a global strategy for service transition, change assurance.

You will lead a high impact function that ensures all technology change and new services are delivered with resilience, control, and operational excellence. The role requires a deep expertise across infrastructure, application lifecycle and change governance, with strong bias for automation and DevOps-aligned practices.

As a visible leader interfacing with CIOs, Risk, Engineering, Production platform, you will shape how the organisation delivers change at scale – safely, smoothly and sustainably.

In this role, you will:

  • Define and own the global Service Transition & Change Assurance strategy, aligned with enterprise risk and transformation priorities.
  • Foster a culture of early engagement, proactive transition planning, and end-to-end service readiness.
  • Lead cross-functional governance forums to assess change readiness, oversee infra upgrade programs, DR simulations, and platform migrations.
  • Serve as the senior approver for high-impact and complex changes, ensuring a balance between agility and control.
  • Oversee a centralized book of work for major and notable changes; track trends, identify risks, and provide impact insights to senior stakeholders.
  • Enforce compliance while supporting risk-basedexceptions,partner with enterprise change enablement for pragmatic governance.
  • Ensure all changes align to internal SDLC and control frameworks, with traceable approvals, test evidence, and production readiness as standard.
  • Establish and lead the Service Transition Framework across payments, ensuring readiness from project initiation through Early Life Support (ELS) completion.
  • Define and manage the Permit to Operate (PtO) process—setting minimum criteria forNon Functional Requirements (NFRs), observability, failover readiness, and rollback plans.
  • Implement standardized application pre-checks, in-flight validation, and post-event assurance—adapted for cloud, hybrid, and on-prem deployments.
  • Partner with engineering, production support, and architecture teams to continually raise the bar on transition quality and stability.
  • Champion automation-first delivery using CI/CD pipelines, service health dashboards, and intelligent alerting.
  • Collaborate with platform engineering to embed operability standards, reduce manual intervention, and introduce self-healing capabilities.
  • Analyzechange-related incidents and drive systemic remediation through backlog prioritization and platform investment.
  • Lead and mentor a global team of service transition and change assurance professionals.
  • Build domain expertise across regions and foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and collaboration.
  • Influence upstream delivery teams to embed operational readiness and risk considerations from day one.


Required Qualifications:

  • Experience in Systems Engineering, and Technology Architecture, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • Management or leadership experience
  • Experience in technology or production engineering roles within financial services, including in senior leadership.
  • Proven expertise leading global service transition, production onboarding, or change governance functions.
  • Successful track record of delivering infra migrations, DRcutovers, and high-volume change programs.
  • Experience with real-time payments systems (e.g., Fedwire, CHAPS, RTGS) or liquidity platforms is highly desirable.
  • Strong grasp of ITIL practices and modern DevOps/SRE methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills at the executive level.
  • Data-driven, risk-aware mindset with proficiency in tools such as ServiceNow, AppDynamics, Splunk, Control-M, etc.
