Main duties of the job

The post-holder will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.

We have an experienced nursing team, as well as ANPs, MSK Practitioners, a Paramedic, Mental Health Practitioners, Social Prescriber, General Practice Assistant and Care-Coordinators.

We have developed an innovative approach with GPA/CC available and on hand to manage wider GP responsibilities (eConsult/tasks/insurance etc.) which has significantly reduced GP admin burdens.

We have established a cohesive prescribing team led by Clinical Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technician, and prescription clerks.

Paramedic and pharmacists run home visiting/care homes service alongside the care-coordinator.

Job responsibilities

Clinical responsibilities:

1. The delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population.
2. Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance.
3. Effective management of long-term conditions.
4. Processing of administration in a timely manner including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks.
5. On a rotational basis, undertake telephone triage and duty doctor roles.
6. Accept responsibility for a specialist interest within the organisation, e.g dermatology.
7. Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidance.
8. Contribute to the effective management of the organisation including administration, planning, strategy, BRPs etc.
9. Identify, implement and embed best practice through clinical guidelines and the audit process.
10. Prepare and complete the revalidation process.
11. Contribute to the training of medical students from all clinical disciplines.
12. Generic duties commensurate with any Partner including a Non-Clinical Partner.
13. The provision of services commensurate with the GP contract.
14. Show leadership qualities, work collaboratively, ensure an even distribution of the organisations workload.
15. Take responsibility for continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the organisation.
16. Accept delegated responsibility for a specific area (or areas) or the QOF.
17. Attend and contribute effectively to organisation meetings as required.
18. Represent the organisation at ICS/ICB and regional meetings.
19. Contribute effectively to the development and maintenance of the organisation including clinical governance, training, financial management and HR.

4. Drive the development of enhanced services within the organisation, liaising with external agencies and professional organisations as required.

Experience

Essential

• Experience of working in a primary care environment.
• Experience of continued professional development.
• Experience of QOF and clinical audit.
• General understanding of the GP contract.

Desirable

• Experience of medicines management (GP only).
• Experience of ICS initiatives.

Qualifications

• Qualified GP and MRCGP.
• Vocational Training Certificate or equivalent JCPTGP.
• General Practitioner (Certificate of Completion of Training CCT).
