We are a friendly and forward-thinking GP training practice,committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care to a diversepopulation of over 10000 patients. Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing a diverse patient background across all age groups
  • Face-to-face, video, electronic and telephone consultations
  • Issuing and signing repeat prescriptions
  • Clinical triage and participation in the duty GP rota
  • Occasional home visits for housebound frail elderly and palliative patients
  • Participating in clinical meetings and quality improvement work
  • Supporting the teaching and supervision of medical students and GP trainees

Job responsibilities

Thepost-holder will manage a proportional caseload and deal with a wide range ofhealth needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of carefor all registered and temporary patients.

ClinicalResponsibilities:

Inaccordance with the Practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will makehimself/herself available to undertake a variety of duties including F2Fconsultations, telephone consultations answer e- consults, triage calls, triagevisits, action test results and requesting appropriate tests for patientschecking and signing of acute and repeat prescriptions and dealing with anyself-generated paperwork, and correspondence in a timely fashion.

Respondto medical problems presented by regular and temporary residents as required.

Makingprofessional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whetherself-referred or referred from other health care workers within theorganization.

Assessingthe health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosedproblems.

Screeningpatients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.

Completionof clinically related administrative and non-clinical duties needed for thedelivery of the service.

Recordingclear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.

Compilingand issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions.

Prescribingin accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary / HIOW Formulary wheneverthis is clinically appropriate.

Participatein training plans of GP trainee and medical students as required.

Ingeneral, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal dutiesand responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.

Maintaining,monitoring and updating computer database and management of medical records andpractice audits

Ensurethat practice clinical database is updated promptly and accurately withinformation relating to patient records, as required for clinical accuracy andfor practice recording requirements under QOF and Enhanced Services.

Appropriateuse of read codes.

Qualifications

  • Previous similar experience is preferred.
