Job description

We are situated in the historic coastal town of Arbroath, on the East coast mainline to London, with convenient links to the rest of Scotland. Surrounded by spectacular scenery, countryside, and villages in the Angus area, which produces an abundance of berries in the bright summer months.

Nearby are fabulous beaches, a marina with sailing clubs, kayaking, paddle boarding, fishing, hill walking in the glens, and skiing. The area features historic buildings, including Arbroath Abbey, where the Declaration of Independence was signed.

A typical GP day includes:

  • 8:00 - 8:30 am Admin slots
  • 8:30 - 11:00 am Surgery with a mix of telephone (10 mins) and face-to-face (15 mins) appointments, including one 10-minute pharmacotherapy slot
  • 11:00 - 11:30 am Coffee break
  • 11:30 am - 12:00 pm Daily huddle (including signing scripts)
  • 12:00 - 1:00 pm Admin or Home visit
  • 1:00 - 2:00 pm Lunch
  • 2:00 - 3:00 pm Admin/Docman
  • 3:00 - 5:40 pm Surgery with 12 slots, including 2 urgent/visit slots, and a mix of telephone (10 mins) and face-to-face (15 mins) appointments
  • 4:00 pm Message slots

About our practice:

  • Vision and Docman systems
  • Daily triage by our ANPs
  • A mix of 10-minute telephone and 15-minute face-to-face appointments, with longer slots if needed
  • Daily huddle to discuss home visits and support the wider team
  • Scheduled admin, Docman, and home visiting time
  • Extended hours covered by GPs and ANPs
  • Chronic disease management by our PNs
  • In-house minor surgery, coil/implant fitting, and joint injections
  • Direct access physiotherapy, in-house mental health and wellbeing services, MDT meetings, pharmacy support, and social prescribing

We seek team players who can help drive the practice forward and keep it relevant for the future of general practice in our area.

We value strong relationships with other practices in the town through our cluster group meetings and see this as a positive for future care delivery. We are interested in candidates eager to develop these relationships further with a focus on quality improvement.

Qualifications required include MBChB or equivalent, full GMC registration with a license to practice, and a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or equivalent.
