An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the team at Denmark Street Surgery, located in Darlington. Darlington is adjacent to Teesside and North Yorkshire, with many fine and pleasant places to live round and about but still close to all amenities.

The GP Partners are looking for a highly motivated individual who shares our values of providing the highest quality patient care in a supportive and friendly working environment. Whether you are an experienced GP or completing your GP training we are more than happy to receive your application and are willing to wait for the right person. You will be well supported to develop special interests and prepare you for partnership.

Main duties of the job

A GP Partner works as an autonomous practitioner, responsible for the provision of medical services to the practice population, delivering an excellent standard of clinical care while complying with the contract. They will work as one of 10 partners holding the contract, and taking overall responsibility for the practice.

Furthermore, the post-holder will adhere to the GMC standards for good medical practice, contributing to the effective management of the practice, leading by example, maintaining a positive, collaborative working relationship with the multidisciplinary team.

The role is to support, mentor, and supervise other healthcare professionals within the organisation and be an integral part of the general practice team.

We are the largest practice in the locality and a well-regarded training practice, providing healthcare to an increasing list size of approximately 15,400 patients.

We train GP trainees, medical students, nurses, pharmacy students and physician associate students and there will be plenty of opportunity to gain teaching experience. We are committed to staff health and wellbeing and recently achievedthe Gold Award under the North East Better Health At Work Award Programme.

We support our local parkrun and are an Associate Member of Darlington Cares.We score highly for QOF and have a CQC rating of 'Good' in all areas. We are anactive member practice of Darlington Primary Care Network - the only local PCN supported by First Contact Physiotherapists, Advanced Mental Health Practitioner and Social Prescribing Team. We operate from purpose-built premises on one site with onsite parking.

Person Specification
Qualifications
  • Qualified GP
  • MRCGP
  • Vocational Training Certificate or equivalent JCPTGP
  • Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT)
  • Full GMC registration.
  • Performers List registration noting that confirmation on this list is adequate for DBS confirmation: England Conforms to the National Performers List and is able to perform any such service as detailed within Regulation 24 of the National Health Service (Performers Lists) (England) Regulations 2013.
  • Evidence of current validation.
  • Evidence of last appraisal.
  • Eligibility to practice in the UK independently.
Experience
  • Ability to both work autonomously and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Experience of working in a primary care environment.
  • Experience of providing home visits.
  • Minimum of two years as a salaried GP.
  • General understanding of the primary care contract.
  • Proven ability to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of own clinical practice.
  • An appreciation of the NHS landscape and relationship between individual organisations, PCNs and the commissioners.
