Job Summary

Cumbria Health are looking for two proactive and organised GP Assistants to help ensure the smooth running of our clinics.

You'll support our GPs by taking on a range of routine administrative and clinical tasks freeing up their time to focus on delivering excellent patient care.

37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday (may be required to work the occasional Saturday to help with Enhanced Access).

These positions are offered on a full-time basis; however, we are open to discussing part-time hours or job share arrangements.

Main duties of the job

  • Supporting the GP with immunisations/wound care
  • Preparing patients prior to going in to see the GP, taking a brief history and basic readings in readiness for the GP appointment.
  • Support the GP with care home round administration.

Job responsibilities

Main Duties/Key Tasks:

  • Sorting clinical post and prioritising for the GP in terms of actions. Signposting some post to others such as clinical pharmacist etc.
  • Extracting all information from clinical letters that needs coding and adding to notes
  • Dealing with all routine clinical post directly e.g. DNA letters, 2WW etc.
  • Arranging appointments, referrals, tests and follow up appointments for patients
  • Completing basic (non-opinion) forms and core elements of some forms for the GP to approve and sign such as insurance forms, mortgage, and benefits agency forms etc.
  • Processing and following up referrals as required
  • Helping the GP liaise with outside agencies
  • Support the GP with care home round administration
  • Support the GP with adequate and accurate summarisation of medical records
  • Work alongside wider practice and PCN teams who support GP administration to ensure a joined up approach and communication
