Location: College Avenue, Wigan, WN1 1NJ

Hours: 210 hours per year, Term Time only

Contract: This role operates on an annualised hours contract. The hours will need to be worked flexibly to meet service needs. You may be required to work additional hours.

Your role:

You will provide ad hoc advice and support to governors, trustees, Headteachers, and Executive leaders regarding school and academy governance, mainly in clerking panels related to complaints, pupil exclusions, and staffing matters. You will join and support a team of full-time clerks and occasionally assist with clerking for school governing boards as cover clerks.

The role includes some rostered hours for attending team meetings, corporate training, and job-related training. The remaining hours are reserved for clerking panel meetings.

This position may suit individuals with excellent administrative skills or backgrounds in HR, education, or school governance.

About you:

You should have excellent organizational and time management skills, be a good team player, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision. Flexibility in working hours, including school hours and early evenings, and willingness to travel across Wigan and neighboring boroughs are essential.

Strong communication skills, courage to have honest conversations, attention to detail, and the ability to record decisions accurately are required. You should be proactive in professional development and knowledgeable about current legislation, policies, and procedures related to school governance.
