Job summary

Abbey Park Primary School in Pershore is seeking an experienced Governance Professional to provide trusted governance support and advice to our governing body and senior leaders. You will help ensure meetings are well planned, documented and aligned with strategic priorities.

You will advise governors on roles, regulatory duties and best practice, maintain governance records, prepare agendas and minutes, and support induction and training while keeping information confidential and secure.

Qualifications

• Experience in governance or company secretarial environment.
• Understanding of governance principles, regulatory requirements and good practice.
• Excellent organisational and administrative skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to prepare quality agendas, papers and minutes.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to provide appropriate challenge and advice while building positive relationships.
• Excellent judgement, discretion and integrity.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Providing governance advice and guidance to the governing body and its committees.
• Supporting the effective planning, preparation and administration of meetings.
• Preparing agendas, papers, minutes and action records to a professional standard.
• Maintaining accurate governance records and follow-up of decisions and actions.
• Advising governors on roles, responsibilities and statutory duties.
• Supporting effective communication between governors, senior leaders and other stakeholders.
• Ensuring governance arrangements remain compliant with legislation and guidance.
• Supporting governor induction, development and training.
• Contributing to ongoing review and improvement of governance processes.
