An opportunity has arisen in the Governance and Legal Department for a Governance Officer.

What the role involves

Supporting the Head of Governance in conflict resolution and regulatory compliance for registered societies; Board secretariat; BSSB secretariat, Breed and Breed Standard processes. The role requires an ability to be proactive and analytical, working with the team on complex, sensitive and sometimes high-profile matters in an outcomes-focused and risk-based way - taking account of thresholds, context, remit and impact.

Key responsibilities and Deliverables
  • Provide support to Head of Governance relevant to Kennel Club Rules & Regulations for registered societies and Conflict resolution within registered societies
  • Maintain live case files and tracking systems
  • Monitor and report on developing situations
  • Procedural compliance of registered societies
  • Assist in administration arising from BSSB, breed recognition and Breed Standard development
  • Production of copy for issue on website and KC Journal
  • Documentation for Board meetings
  • Maintenance of archive
  • Working with the team to ensure meetings are efficiently and effectively managed
The ideal candidate will
  • Be confident, professional and informed and able to work with a range of stakeholders
  • Have the ability to assess scope, impact and outcome in a holistic way, to undertake casework on complex, sensitive matters
  • Have the ability to digest complex submissions, produce reports and suggest solutions
  • Have the ability to prioritise and have good time management skills
  • Be able to maintain precise records to ensure consistency of case tracking
  • Have good written and communication skill
