Governance & Control Transformation Lead

Role Description

We are looking for a Governance & Control Transformation Lead to support the delivery of our Global Finance Transformation Program (org size approx. 250 people). This role offers an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to gain hands-on experience in improving our finance control environment through process transformation, working across functional and regional teams to enhance our operating model, identify opportunities to improve finance service delivery, and develop the transformation plan over the next 3 years.

Operating in a dynamic and complex global environment, this role will focus on elevating finance controls by leveraging innovation, data, and automation to strengthen internal governance and enable smarter, faster decision-making. It will also cover strategic transformation initiatives, including organizational change.

The role spans the central Group Finance Function and Regional CFO finance areas, acting as the lead strategic controls transformation partner for the Group CFO. The individual will support the development and execution of the controls plan and transformation governance via steering committees.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Finance Governance and Policy Management: Analyze current governance frameworks, define the target state, and develop steps to achieve it. Develop and maintain group-wide financial governance policies to be adopted across functions and regions. Ensure adherence to FNZ policies and promote consistency in practices, reporting, and controls. Establish monthly controls and governance meetings to support CFO oversight of finance risks and issues.
  • Internal Controls and Risk Management: Identify improvement areas, lead risk assessments, and collaborate with audit and compliance teams to address financial risks.
  • Internal Controls Partnering: Act as a key controls partner to regional CFOs and Finance Heads, leveraging existing governance frameworks and escalation mechanisms.
  • Governance Framework Implementation: Drive the implementation of best practices, conduct governance reviews, and ensure proper delegation of authority and segregation of duties.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as a trusted advisor to CFOs and finance leadership, providing training and guidance on governance matters.
  • Group Finance Transformation Support: Support the overall group-wide transformation efforts.
  • Project and Change Management: Lead finance governance aspects of strategic projects, M&A, and system implementations. Promote continuous improvement using technology and automation.

Experience Required:

Primary:

  • Qualified professional (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent)
  • Significant post-qualification experience, ideally in internal audit, controls, or risk & assurance, preferably in a Big 4, financial services, or complex matrix organization
  • Excellent communication skills to bridge technical data and business understanding
  • Logical, analytical mindset with confidence to challenge and influence senior management

Secondary:

  • Big 4 consultancy experience
  • MBA qualification (a plus but not essential)
  • Experience in a FinTech finance team
