Job summary

Basildon Borough Council is seeking a Governance Officer to support democratic processes with committee and executive backing. The role requires on-site work and evening attendance at meetings, contributing to minutes, agendas, and action follow-ups.

You will work as part of a small team under Basildon Council and Essex County Council guidance, ensuring compliance with the Constitution and data protection rules while engaging with external partnerships.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting committees and partnerships with agendas and minutes.
• Ability to work evenings for meetings and ensure timely preparation of documents.
• Commitment to confidentiality and data protection principles.

Responsibilities

• Attend meetings and clerk them, drafting agendas, reports and minutes accurately.
• Coordinate appointments to Outside Bodies and manage training records and yearly reporting.
• Promote equality policies and health and safety practices within the team.
