A healthcare provider in the UK is seeking a Governance Lead to oversee the Quality Governance function, support clinical audits, and ensure compliance with health standards. Ideal candidates will possess degree-level education, experience in healthcare settings, and knowledge of quality governance practices. The role requires strong leadership and communication skills to promote a culture of learning and safety.
The Quality Governance and patient Safety Support is a member of the Quality Governance Team and working collaborativelyacross disciplines, the post holder will lead on aspects of quality governanceincluding serious incident investigations, as delegated by the Head of QualityGovernance & IG, to facilitate learning and improvements in clinicalpractice and safety to reduce risk.
The role will incorporate the promotionof a positive learning and just culture environment where changes areestablished and embedded to improve patient safety, experience and outcomes. Anopen learning culture will be fostered which will ensures that both lessons andaction is taken, and appropriate action is taken in response to mistakes andservice failures as well as learning from excellent practice and contributingto the dissemination of this.
The post holder will be supportive andinnovate in their support to the Quality Governance & IG & QualityGovernance Advisor to ensure that all areas of quality governance includingclinical incidents, complaints, serious clinical Incidents are addressed andactioned.
Overseethe Governance function including the delegation of duties to the GovernanceSupport Officer
Policiesand Operational Document Ownership of the process to ensure appropriatereview and ratification prior to the expiry date of the documents
Supportingthe Quality Governance Advisor to complete the clinical Audit process
Ownershipof the generic Quality Governance inbox with delegation to the team
Promptaction of all correspondence
Ensurealignment to NEMS SOPs and KPIs in responding to complaints, incidents andhealth care professional feedback
Toproduce data reports as instructed by Head of Quality Governance & IG andthe Quality Governance Advisor

Thepost holder will work under the direction of the Quality Governance Advisor.
Workingwith and under the delegation of the Quality Governance Advisor the post holderwill:
Haveresponsibility for ensuring all complaints are drafted and presented to theHead of Quality Governance in a timely manner to ensure KPIs are not missed
Lookat innovative ways to improve our processes which in turn will improve responserates
Provideadvice and support to NEMS workforce on all issues relating to qualitygovernance and patient safety.
Planand undertake investigations into clinical incidents of varying nature andcomplexity in line with agreed investigation timeframes and protocols as setout in relevant NEMS policies and procedures or best practice.
Maintainconfidentiality and discretion in carrying out all the duties of the post.
Useown initiative, sound judgment and experience to support appropriate decisionsin accordance with the vision and values of NEMS.
Ensurethat NEMS Policy and Procedure for the Reporting and management of incidents alignedto NEMS Patient Safety Incident Framework is implemented across NEMS, includingcompliance with Duty of Candour.
Ensureprocedures are followed throughout NEMS that will enable our standards forincident management to be achieved and maintained.
Supportthe Quality Governance Advisor to ensure dissemination of lessons learned andremedial actions required are shared in a timely manner
Assistthe Quality Governance Advisor in delivering specific projects
Maintaina high standard of record for each investigation and produce appropriate andtimely reports in respect of investigations into clinical incidents.
UtiliseHuman Factors and Ergonomics focussed tools and techniques and to supportinvestigators in how we apply them
Ensureall communication with patients, relatives and carers are open, honest and thatinvestigations are transparent and independent.
Supportthe Quality Governance Advisor when required to ensure NEMS responds to andcaptures all safety alerts
1. Self-Development& Mandatory Training
Ensureall mandatory training as required within your role is kept up to date.
2. Anyother reasonable requests in keeping with the Quality Governance function.
