Job summary

Yolk Recruitment is seeking a Governance and Executive Support Manager on a fixed-term basis through December 2026 to lead governance across the Group and provide senior executive support. Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day governance delivery and maintain effective governance across the Group.
• Provide governance advice and support corporate decision-making.
• Support the Company Secretary with statutory registers and deputise when needed.
• Service Board and Committee meetings—scheduling, agendas, papers, attendance, minutes and records.
• Manage boards’ workplans, identify risks, and escalate issues appropriately.
• Act as trusted advisor to Board members and volunteers.
• Coordinate governance events, meetings and training, including practical arrangements.
• Support Board member recruitment, induction and training programmes.
• Provide executive support to the Chief Executive including diary management.
• Assist with risk registers, business continuity and organisational planning documents.
• Support leadership meetings and reporting on risk, finance and performance.

About the role

Yolk Recruitment is supporting a well-established Housing Association to appoint a Governance and Executive Support Manager on a fixed-term basis, providing cover through to the end of December 2026.

This is a key role within the organisation, providing operational leadership across the governance function while also delivering high-quality executive support to the Chief Executive and wider leadership team.

The successful candidate will bring strong governance knowledge, excellent organisational skills and the confidence to work closely with Board members, senior leaders and external stakeholders.

What you'll be doing

Around 70% of the role will focus on governance, including:

• Leading the day-to-day delivery of the governance function and ensuring effective governance arrangements are maintained across the Group.
• Providing advice on governance matters and supporting corporate decision-making.
• Supporting the Company Secretary with statutory registers and deputising where appropriate.
• Servicing Board and Committee meetings, including scheduling, agendas, papers, attendance, minute-taking and maintaining accurate records.
• Managing Board and Committee workplans and ensuring emerging risks and issues are identified and escalated appropriately.
• Acting as a key point of contact and trusted advisor for Board members and volunteers.
• Coordinating Board and governance events, meetings and training, including practical arrangements.
• Supporting Board member recruitment, induction and the Board training programme.

The remaining 30% will focus on executive support, including:

• Providing professional executive support to the Chief Executive, including diary management and follow-up actions.
• Supporting leadership and management teams with key organisational documents, including risk registers and business continuity plans.
• Supporting the corporate planning cycle and delivery of organisational priorities.
• Servicing leadership and management meetings, including agendas, papers, minutes and actions.
• Supporting risk, financial and performance management activity.

Current priorities

There are a number of important projects already in the pipeline, including:

• Coordinating and ensuring the induction of new Board members is completed by Christmas.
• Developing the practical approach to implementing the organisation's decision to introduce Board member remuneration.

You'll therefore have the opportunity to make an immediate contribution and take ownership of key governance projects during the contract.

What we're looking for

• Strong knowledge of governance, regulation, legislation and company secretarial compliance and best practice.
• Experience supporting and managing corporate meetings, Board/Committee meetings and events.
• Excellent minute-taking and report-writing skills.
• Strong organisational, time management and project management skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.
• The ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with tact and diplomacy.
• Excellent communication skills and confidence working with people at all levels, including Board members and senior leaders.
• Experience using electronic systems to manage information and support effective decision-making.
• The ability to use data, evidence and insight to identify improvements and inform decisions.

Working pattern

This is a full-time, 35-hour-per-week role, offering hybrid working.

You'll be required to work a minimum of three days per week in the office, Monday to Thursday, with the days worked flexibly around the organisation's Board and Committee meeting schedule.

The organisation already has Board and Committee dates planned, with the exact dates to be confirmed. The successful candidate will therefore need to be comfortable working flexibly and attending the occasional Tuesday or Thursday evening meeting where required.
