Overview:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Governance & Controls Analyst to join the Business Control Function at Royal London. The role holder will work with the 1st line executive and management teams within functions to deliver controls testing and risk and control activities. You will be working with the Governance and Controls Managers to deliver controls testing and risk and control activities as agreed in the annual plan. This will include the gathering of evidence, running workshops, carrying out control walkthroughs, required to assess controls and help produce reports based on the outcome.

About the role:

  • Assess the effectiveness of control design and performance, identify weaknesses, determine the materiality of findings.and report back results.
  • Reporting the results to local management and agreeing actions
  • Carrying our agreed assignments including reviewing risks and controls already in risk registers, gathering evidence for the operation of controls
  • Collate monthly/quarterly operational risk MI and report for Functions, e.g. root cause analysis of risk events.
  • Maintain processes for controls and risk management within functions, e.g. risk acceptance, risk events, escalations.
  • Provide secretariat for functional risk committees (collation of papers, taking minutes and maintaining action log)
  • Support management to report and investigate risk events in accordance with the Risk Event & Escalation process
  • For risk and control activities arrangement and facilitation workshops (assisting Governance and Controls Managers) and carrying out walkthrough tests of controls – reporting the results to local management and agreeing actions
  • Attending functional risk committees to discuss reports and activities
  • Helping risk and control owners the update of Archer Risk Registers on the conclusion of controls testing and risk and control activities

About you:

  • Experience of carrying out controls testing and reporting.
  • Able to effectively manage stakeholders, including senior stakeholders
  • Experience of using risk management systems such as Archer
  • Good knowledge of relevant FCA/PRA regulations and applicable rules
  • Understanding of the risk framework and procedures
  • Strong communication and influencing skills
  • Excellent analytical ability
  • Strong business report writing and presentation skills
