Job Description:

Are you a talented researcher in Computer Science/Artificial Intelligence with a passion for outreach and an interest in antimicrobial resistance?

This Fellowship on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is part of Google DeepMind's Academic Fellowship Programme, supporting groundbreaking postdoctoral research in Computer Science and AI.

Hosted in collaboration with the Fleming Initiative, a partnership between Imperial College London and Imperial College NHS Trust, it focuses on research, behavior change, public engagement, and policy to address AMR.

AMR occurs when microbes such as bacteria and fungi develop resistance to drugs used to treat infections, potentially leading to a global crisis, with an estimated 8 million lives lost annually by 2050.

The fellow will pursue research at the intersection of AI and AMR, collaborating with researchers across disciplines, including physicians, pharmacists, epidemiologists, and behavioral scientists.

You will be expected to develop and deliver outreach activities related to Computing/AI and participate in public engagement initiatives led by the Fleming Initiative.

Qualifications include:

  • Outstanding research in AI/Computer Science with an understanding of AMR
  • Ability to inspire participation in Computing and AI, with demonstrated commitment to outreach
  • Skills to work collaboratively across disciplines and professions to develop impactful research
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to connect academic and public audiences

This position offers the opportunity to advance your career at a leading institution, within an outstanding Computer Science department and the Fleming Initiative. You will be part of a diverse, inclusive, and collaborative environment with resources to support your wellbeing. Imperial provides sector-leading career support, promotion opportunities, and a comprehensive benefits package including 39 days off annually and generous pension schemes.
