Redhook Global Talent is helping a well-established food business near Glasgow recruit a Goods In Manager. The role is brand-new due to growth, with a major capex project expanding cold storage by ~60% on site.
You’ll manage about 60 staff across intake and materials, lead line leaders, and own the bespoke WMS with Power BI screens on the floor. Monday–Friday with potential weekend flexibility as the new structure takes shape.
Most Goods In Managers spend their first two years tidying up someone else's operation. This one is the opposite. You'd be walking into a site that already works, at the exact moment it gets significantly bigger.
We're working with a well-established food business on the appointment of a Goods In Manager for their site near Glasgow. The role is a brand-new one, purely due to growth.
Here's what's actually on the table. A big capex project is currently racking out a third chamber. When it lands, cold storage capacity on site grows by around 60%. This is happening now, and whoever takes this role owns how it gets absorbed into the operation.
The structure underneath you is fluid, and the business has been open about that. Around 5 or 6 direct reports, plus around 60 people across intake and raw materials, plus the yard and forklift team. If you'd run it differently, they want to hear it. That's an unusually honest starting position, and it's rare to be handed a team of that size and told to shape it rather than protect it.
The work itself doesn't get boring. Alongside the full-pallet volume, the site handles major retailer products and it demands a reactive, thinking style of management rather than a repetitive one. There's multi-million £'s of raw material sitting on site at any given time, regular vehicles in per day, and hundreds of pallets out. Add in operations that peak seasonally and no two days look identical.
You'd also get to properly own a system rather than fight one. A bespoke WMS, Power BI screens live on the floor driving pallet allocation. If you're someone who has always suspected the data could be doing more for you, this is a site where that's already half-built.
And it's a Monday to Friday role which could be a huge positive if you're currently doing a mix of shifts. Honestly, there might be some weekend flexibility expected while the new structure settles, but this isn't a permanent rotating weekend commitment.
If you've been quietly wondering whether your current site is ever going to invest, or ever going to let you change anything, this is worth a 20 minute conversation.
