Job description

Fitzgerald Jewellers are looking for an experienced Goldsmith/ Diamond Mounter to join their growing team in the heart of Canterbury, Kent.

The Goldsmiths in our team play an integral role in our business, working on the production of bespoke commissions such as engagement rings and fine jewellery as well as repair work too. As well as bespoke manufacturing tasks, the role involves cleaning and assembling castings, re-sizings, repairs and polishing to name but a few of the tasks involved.

You’ll be joining an award winning shop in their extraordinary workshop nestled in the grounds of Canterbury Cathedral. Your standards should be high and we expect you to always strive for the very best.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

The following duties are not shown in order of priority or frequency and it is not an exhaustive list. We are a small, independent business so you will be required to assist and support the organisation in multiple areas but the primary duties and responsibilities of this role are:

  • Crafting bespoke commissions from scratch using precious metals and gemstones
  • Cleaning and assembling precious metal castings
  • Creating stock to sell from the shop floor
  • Resizing engagement rings, stone set bands, wedding bands
  • Laser repair work
  • Profiling and polishing
  • Maintaining and cleaning of equipment and workshop tools
  • Liasing with shop floor staff to do assay and other administrative tasks
  • Clearly communicate with shop floor staff on progress of jobs
  • Manage your own time effectively to complete jobs to a high standard
  • Brand ambassador for Fitzgerald Jewellers

Ideal Candidate

  • Minimum 5 years experience
  • Jewellery making degree or equivalent
  • At least 1-2 years bench experience (specifically in Fine Jewellery)
  • Laser-welding experience
  • Strong work ethic
  • Ability to work quickly & efficiently
  • Sense of ownership and pride in your performance and its impact on a company’s success
  • Critical thinker and problem-solving skills
  • Team player
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills
