Job summary

Talent-Relay Limited in Burgess Hill, UK is seeking a mid-level Golang Engineer to design, develop and maintain backend applications using Go. The role focuses on building scalable microservices and REST APIs within an Agile team, contributing to CI/CD and modernising legacy systems.

The contract is 5 months with extensions likely, based in Burgess Hill with 3 days on-site and 2 days remote per week, paying a day rate of £260–£270.

Qualifications

• Commercial experience developing software using Golang.
• Experience developing backend microservices and RESTful APIs.
• Strong experience with Git, Jenkins and CI/CD.
• Experience working with PostgreSQL and/or NoSQL databases.
• Experience with messaging technologies, ideally Kafka.
• Understanding of TDD, BDD and automated testing.
• Experience working within Agile/Scrum development environments.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• A genuine interest in learning new technologies and developing technical skills.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of Java or another backend programming language.
• Experience with gRPC or GraphQL.
• Experience working with cloud technologies.
• Contributions to open-source projects.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate experience as a Golang Engineer within a commercial environment.
• Design, develop, test and maintain backend applications using Golang.
• Build and enhance scalable, resilient microservices and REST APIs.
• Develop solutions supporting high-volume customer-facing applications.
• Work with messaging technologies such as Kafka / RabbitMQ and asynchronous services.
• Contribute to the migration and modernisation of legacy applications.
• Work collaboratively within an Agile/Scrum development team.
• Develop automated unit, integration and functional tests.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and automated software delivery.
• Collaborate with Development, QA, SRE and Production Support teams.
