Back-End Engineer (Go) - Connected Sports Tech | Reading, hybrid (1 day/week)
This sports-tech scale-up is changing how a global sport is played. It combines camera-based hardware with an app that tracks play automatically and powers online matches, live stats and training. The platform has passed 200,000 users, up from tens of thousands a year ago, and is aiming for the low millions.
The business sits within a heritage sports brand that was recently acquired by a leading private equity firm and is now in a new phase of growth. The engineering team is around 15 people and works like a startup, with the backing of a much bigger business.
Every match played and every stat collected goes through the back end. You'll build and maintain the Go services and databases behind the core product. You'll sit in a cross-functional team that works closely with the hardware engineers, and you'll help shape the back-end architecture as the product scales.
Nice to have: Kubernetes, Grafana/Loki observability, Swift or Kotlin for mobile, an understanding of modern front-end development, and a background in sport or gaming.
A chance to work at the cutting edge of technology in sport, on a product its users love
Lots of autonomy, and you'll learn from an experienced CTO, CPO and technology investors
