Job description

A global Tier 1 telecommunications provider delivering network, cloud, and data centre solutions to enterprise clients worldwide is seeking a GNOC Engineer to join their London-based Global Network Operations Centre (GNOC). This is an excellent opportunity to work at the heart of a major international operation within a mission-critical environment.

This shift-based operational support position is part of a 24/7 Network Operations Centre responsible for proactive monitoring, fault management, and operational support of a large-scale global network and infrastructure platform. The role requires vigilance, technical expertise, and effective incident response to ensure continuous service availability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and manage international network infrastructure, ensuring high availability and optimal performance
  • Perform first-line and second-line fault investigation and incident management across network, server, and security environments
  • Escalate and coordinate with third-line support teams and external vendors where necessary
  • Provide operational support and communicate with international teams and enterprise customers in both English and Japanese
  • Document incidents, maintain shift handover reports, and follow operational procedures
  • Support hands-on work within the London Docklands data centre environment when required

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Solid understanding of TCP/IP, MPLS, and networking protocols
  • Experience with server or firewall infrastructure support
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco networking hardware (preferred)
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and incident management abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Japanese
  • Prior experience in NOC, GNOC, or data centre operations would be advantageous

Shift Pattern:

  • 4 Days On / 4 Days Off
  • 1x Early Shift: 8:00am – 8:00pm
  • 3x Late Shifts: 12:00pm – 12:00am or 1:00pm – 1:00am
