Job summary

Catalent Swindon is seeking a Utilities Maintenance Shift Engineer to ensure the safe and efficient operation of site utility systems. You will perform planned maintenance, respond to breakdowns, and support continuous improvement to maximise equipment reliability, plant uptime and product quality.

This shift role (2 days, 2 nights, 4 days off) is 100% onsite in Swindon and requires GMP awareness, strong problem-solving, and collaborative skills to drive improvements across the site.

Qualifications

• Proven engineering experience in a maintenance or utilities environment.
• Completed a recognised relevant apprenticeship or equivalent Mechanical or Electrical qualification.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and technical documentation.
• Experience with Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) systems and Microsoft Office.
• Essential: experience of HVAC, boilers, refrigeration, chilled water, purified water, cooling towers, vacuum systems, and freeze dryers.
• Desirable: experience of working in a GMP or regulated manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of utility systems and associated plant equipment across the site.
• Deliver planned preventative maintenance, effective fault diagnosis, and breakdown response.
• Drive continuous improvement activities to maximise equipment reliability, plant uptime, product quality, and energy efficiency.
• Provide technical expertise within a regulated GMP environment.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, quality, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with production teams, contractors, and project teams to deliver sustainable improvements and operational excellence.
