Job description

Global Staff Mobility Expert (6-Month Contract)

Are you an experienced global mobility professional with a background in the public sector?

We are working exclusively with an academic-focused government department on an initial 6-month temporary position for a Global Staff Mobility Expert. There is potential for extension. The department seeks to enhance its HR team with a specialist who can navigate the complexities of international mobility during a busy period.

The successful candidate will provide expertise in immigration, mobility processes, and legal requirements (including tax implications) related to international employment. You will also manage visa applications in coordination with the Home Office and liaise closely with the immigration team and stakeholders to ensure smooth communication and process transparency.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Lead the strategic development and implementation of global mobility policies.
  2. Advise employees, stakeholders, and agencies on international transitions, immigration compliance, and best practices in global mobility.
  3. Maintain region-specific immigration expertise and develop a comprehensive global mobility toolkit to enhance compliance and operational efficiency.
  4. Build and manage relationships with agencies, resolve supplier issues, and address travel-related challenges to ensure consistency across initiatives.
  5. Provide strategic advice to senior leadership on complex mobility and immigration compliance issues, collaborating with recruitment, people operations, and immigration teams to improve policies and practices.

This role is outcome-focused, outside IR35, offering up to £500 per day. The department has offices in London (Canary Wharf) and Swindon, and the candidate should be willing to attend either location 1-2 days per week.

The ideal candidate will have experience working in both the public and private sectors, with previous experience within central government being highly advantageous.

The client, who wishes to remain confidential at this stage, is eager to meet highly experienced professionals capable of making an immediate impact. The position is expected to start by the end of May.
