Job summary

Shell Trading and Supply (T&S) seeks a Senior Sanctions Advisor to own the sanctions compliance programme and partner with Global Trade Compliance and Group Legal.

The role entails advising senior leadership, providing operational sanctions guidance across Crude Trading, Products Trading, Gas & Energy Marketing & Trading, and Shipping & Supply Operations, and ensuring regulatory changes are rapidly embedded into business practice.

Qualifications

  • Senior-level experience in legal, compliance, or regulatory roles focused on sanctions.
  • Experience advising senior leadership and communicating risks and mitigations clearly.
  • Experience in analyzing transactions and determining appropriate actions in sanctions contexts.
  • Ability to interpret changes in sanctions, export controls and customs regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead global T&S sanctions compliance programme and policy ownership.
  • Advise Business Leadership via High Risk Committee on sanctions risks.
  • Provide operational sanctions guidance to business units and Compliance teams.
  • Deliver sanctions training to T&S and Compliance Advisory teams.
  • Upskill junior Compliance staff in sanctions support.
  • Identify and assess sanctions risks using Shell methodologies.
  • Recommend mitigation measures and governance improvements.
  • Communicate regulatory changes to the business and leadership.
  • Integrate mandatory sanctions procedures into business processes.
