Job summary

Markel International is seeking a Reserving Actuary to shape reserving strategy, influence business decisions, and lead reserving activities within a global actuarial function. The role supports robust reserving, financial reporting and risk management across the international business, with hybrid work options and travel as needed, primarily based in London.

You will lead a team, develop new techniques, and partner with stakeholders worldwide to deliver high-quality results.

Qualifications

• Bring reserving expertise to the International actuarial team.
• Guide complex reserving issues with bespoke tooling.
• Lead and develop the wider actuarial team.
• Identify process and governance improvements within reserving.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the efficient running of the reserving function for Markel International.
• Coordinate activities to ensure timely reserving and financial reporting.
• Develop technical approaches for reserving within International and collaborate globally.
• Maintain relationships with group actuarial, International Finance, ExCo, auditors and regulators.
• Lead reserving team members and coach the actuarial team.
• Support the wider Markel International Actuarial team and participate in global projects.
