Job Description:

Our client is a leading Energy Trading company who trade crude oils and refined products in the UK and Europe as well as a range of paper derivative products such as swaps, futures and options.

Reporting to the Global Product Control Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing the London-based product control team. Key responsibilities include ensuring the timely and accurate production and evaluation of daily risk, exposure, and profit and loss reports. The role involves identifying portfolio risk exposure, monitoring hedging and physical cargo exposure, and explaining daily PNL and earnings drivers. The candidate will also develop and implement best practice daily risk reporting processes.

The Product Control Lead will additionally be responsible for developing Risk reporting systems and aligning local practices with global reporting models and risk assessment philosophies.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead regional commodity reporting for daily profit/loss and exposure from the system of record.
  • Manage the daily schedule and organization of the London risk analyst team.
  • Coach and mentor risk analysts supporting other commodity groups.
  • Review and authorize publication of the end-of-day performance report.
  • Support global reporting efforts such as drawdown analysis, cargo reporting, and VaR reviews.
  • Build networks with risk leads in other regions to promote process improvements and reporting alignment.
  • Collaborate across functions on projects to improve business processes and reporting quality.
  • Ensure accuracy of core data inputs into systems of record.
Candidate Profile:
  • 5-10+ years of relevant commodity experience; leadership experience is a plus.
  • Legal right to work in the UK without restrictions or ability to meet sponsorship criteria.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, with exposure to Visual Basic advantageous.
  • Strong analytical skills for complex data analysis.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, action-oriented, with a solutions mindset.
  • Understanding of marine transportation, logistics, chartering, and commodity trading, including derivatives, is preferred.
  • Effective leadership through influence and capability to influence at all levels.
  • Ability to work in both local and global team environments.
  • Strong desire for personal growth and skill sharing.
