Job Description:

The Global Procurement Manager for Inerts will oversee a portfolio of raw materials across all Gowan manufacturing and tolling facilities worldwide. This role demands strong collaboration and leadership with regional buyers, who will be directly responsible for executing supply agreements and commercial terms. The position requires excellent negotiation skills, strategic supplier development, and the ability to establish a robust resiliency platform to mitigate supply chain and regulatory risks. Additionally, the role focuses on achieving cost-saving targets while ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality, compliant products. This position reports to the Global Head of Procurement.

Role Responsibilities:

  1. Source and evaluate new suppliers for inert portfolio.
  2. Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, monitor their performance to ensure on-time delivery and adherence to quality standards, and obtain competitive benchmarking on pricing and market trends.
  3. Develop and implement procurement strategies for inerts at a global level, moving from regional to global approach to evaluate synergies and local efficiencies for cost savings.
  4. Lead supplier negotiations, contract management, and introduce competitive bidding for commoditized inerts.
  5. Monitor market trends and pricing fluctuations to optimize procurement costs and support cost-saving initiatives.
  6. Introduce multiple sources for critical inerts to reduce costs and mitigate risks (supply, regulatory).
  7. Collaborate with internal stakeholders across multiple functions and regions to ensure strategies are executed and supply agreements are followed.
  8. Ensure materials meet the required quality standards by providing detailed specifications to suppliers and relay customer feedback for quality improvements.
  9. Prepare and present regular reports on procurement activities, supplier performance, and cost savings, utilizing data and analytics for informed decision-making.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Chemistry, Business Administration, or a related field.

Experience / Skills / Abilities:

  • Minimum of >5 years of experience in a global procurement role, specifically in chemical raw material procurement, ideally in the Agchem or Crop Protection Industry.
  • Experience purchasing globally, ideally with experience in Europe and North America.
  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally across time zones, in a fast-paced changing environment.
  • Willing to challenge the status quo, results-oriented, and able to work independently to hit targets.

Job Expectations / Working Conditions:

  • International travel will be needed, at least once a quarter US/Europe.
  • One primary requirement is working in the office five days a week.
