Job description

The role of a Global Partner Marketing Lead at Canonical

Open source software is becoming the standard in the enterprise, and Canonical is a leading challenger to major enterprise software vendors.

Canonical seeks a Global Partner Marketing Lead responsible for developing our relationships with global partners. Our partners include leading companies in public cloud (Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Oracle), silicon (ARM, Intel, Qualcomm, Mediatek, Nvidia, Xilinx), and hardware vendors (Dell, HP, HPE, Lenovo). Our portfolio spans from the Ubuntu operating system to comprehensive enterprise solutions for infrastructure and applications, including software-defined storage, private cloud, container runtimes, databases, messaging, identity, observability, analytics, machine learning, and web publishing. Our goal is to offer more open source solutions than any other vendor, leveraging unique capabilities across all clouds, compute classes, and application categories.

We are looking for a Global Partner Marketing Lead to cultivate strategic relationships with our partners. As our business relies increasingly on partnerships—whether embedding, reselling, or building solutions—the successful candidate will drive marketing initiatives and develop partner programs tailored to each segment.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about technology and marketing, enjoy ownership of campaigns, collaboration, continuous learning, curiosity, and self-improvement. They should also be hands-on problem solvers who experiment, measure results, and utilize automation to streamline daily tasks.

This role reports to the VP of Marketing.

Location: The role is largely remote and can be based in the Americas.

What your day will look like

  1. Lead a team of Partner Marketing Managers.
  2. Grow channel sales via integrated partner marketing programs across system integrators, cloud providers, device manufacturers, and semiconductors.
  3. Build and support relationships with partner sales, channel, and marketing teams to enhance sales potential of Canonical's products and services.
  4. Develop a deep understanding of partner business strategies and objectives.
  5. Apply product marketing strategies to craft messaging and approaches for different partner categories.
  6. Ensure marketing consistency to accurately represent Canonical's brand and value proposition.
  7. Align Canonical and partner capabilities to increase awareness and business opportunities.
  8. Implement systems and metrics to continually improve marketing effectiveness.

What we are looking for in you

  • Experience in B2B marketing and working with strategic partners on co-marketing initiatives.
  • Experience in enterprise software, SaaS, or silicon industries is preferred.
  • Strong relationship management skills.
  • Proven analytical skills to assess opportunities and ROI.
  • Track record of results and innovation.
  • Growth mindset, willing to think big and take risks.
  • Willingness to be hands-on.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Enjoys diverse tasks and overcoming challenges.

What we offer you

Compensation depends on location, experience, and skills. Benefits include bonuses and incentives based on performance. Our philosophy is to ensure equity across our global workforce.

  • Fully remote work environment
  • Personal learning and development budget
  • Annual compensation review
  • Recognition rewards
  • Annual leave
  • Employee Assistance Programme
