Job summary

OKA Direct LTD is seeking a Packaging Technologist to lead packaging across our furniture and homewares ranges, ensuring product protection, regulatory compliance, cost efficiency and sustainability. The role collaborates with overseas Central Service teams, global suppliers and UK warehouse/QA teams to set standards and provide technical guidance.

The successful candidate will develop packaging specifications, conduct supplier audits, and support testing during development and production.

Qualifications

• 2+ years’ experience in packaging development, ideally in furniture, homewares or consumer goods.
• Strong knowledge of packaging materials, testing methods and supply chain logistics.
• Proven experience managing EPR reporting and packaging waste compliance.
• Excellent project management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, specify and approve packaging for all products to ensure protection, quality and brand consistency.
• Act as the packaging SME for overseas Central Services teams, providing clear guides, standards and documentation.
• Create, maintain and control packaging specifications, drawings and documentation across all SKUs in the internal system.
• Support ACS teams ensuring packaging standards and expectations are embedded at the start of new product development.
• Conduct supplier packaging audits to ensure compliance with standards.
• Work with suppliers and warehouses to manage packaging in line with specifications and requirements globally.
• Lead packaging rebranding and labeling projects for marketing and ad-hoc initiatives.
• Introduce high-specification D2C packaging with the third-party warehouse.
• Develop testing guidelines and training materials for packaging testing; define testing parameters.
• Lead root-cause analysis and corrective action plans for packaging issues.
• Maintain testing records and ensure packaging performance data is up to date.
