Job summary

Future Recruitment Ltd is working with a leading packaging specialist in Greater Manchester to recruit a Purchasing Co-ordinator or Packaging Buyer. The role focuses on day-to-day purchasing with overseas suppliers and close collaboration with Sales, Logistics and Quality teams.

Candidates should have at least two years in purchasing or related packaging roles, knowledge of plastic packaging materials, strong numerical and Excel skills, and the ability to work independently while contributing to

Qualifications

• Two years' experience in purchasing, buying or related packaging role.
• Experience with packaging manufacturers or suppliers.
• Knowledge of plastic packaging materials and manufacturing processes.
• Experience in flexible or rigid plastic packaging.
• Strong pricing, MOQs, lead times and production constraint understanding.
• Excellent numerical, Excel and organisational skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage priorities and work independently within a wider team.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day purchasing activity with overseas packaging manufacturers.
• Obtain, review and evaluate quotations, focusing on pricing, MOQs and lead times.
• Place purchase orders and monitor progress through to completion.
• Support new product development and sourcing projects.
• Carry out cost analysis and identify potential savings or alternative sourcing opportunities.
• Maintain accurate pricing, supplier and purchasing information.
• Build relationships with suppliers and internal departments.
• Collaborate with Sales, Logistics and Quality to meet customer and production requirements.
• Identify and resolve purchasing or supply issues in a timely manner.
