Job description

To help achieve our goals, we’re looking for a Global Operations Officer to have significant input into the operational functions of the Global Engagement Directorate. The Directorate is responsible for international student welfare, academic study skills support, student immigration compliance, student/staff international mobility, as well as the University’s transnational education and global strategic partnerships.

What You’ll Be Doing

  1. Manage processes related to US Federal Direct Student Loan applications, developing policies to ensure compliance with US Department of Education requirements and annual audits.
  2. Oversee US private loan processes, liaising with stakeholders like Convera, and advising students, schools, and units to grow the US student market.
  3. Handle agent contracts, due diligence reviews, and agent commissions, ensuring compliance with the Agent Quality Framework, and reviewing agent performance annually.
  4. Manage invoicing for overseas government-sponsored students, ensuring timely payments, liaising with Finance, and resolving procedural or financial issues to maintain strong relationships.

What You’ll Bring

The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, proficient in managing various systems, proactive in process improvement, and possess excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills. You should be committed to supporting Cardiff Met’s Internationalisation strategy and ensuring compliance in US Federal Loan administration, Agent Quality Framework, and financial regulations.

Additionally, you will have:

  • A degree or significant relevant experience
  • Knowledge of US Federal Loan schemes and private loans like Sallie Mae
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills
  • Ability to develop operational procedures and suggest improvements
  • Understanding of complex rules and regulations
  • Financial data analysis skills
  • Effective communication skills at all levels
  • Ability to work accurately under pressure
  • Experience in Higher Education administration
