Job summary

Edwards Vacuum in Burgess Hill is seeking an Engineering Manager to shape and steer the NPI technical roadmap, aligning engineering and programme delivery to strategic objectives in pump technology.

You will build engineering capability across the UK GTC and coordinate with Cheonan (Korea) and Qingdao (China) centres to support growth and technology needs, while mentoring teams and delivering high-performance results.

Qualifications

• Experience in vacuum pump development or complex engineered products.
• Proven leadership across mechanical, electrical, software, motor, controls, and system domains.
• Experience creating and governing technical development roadmaps aligned with programme, product, and portfolio roadmaps.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering teams with governance across mechanical, electrical, software, motor, controls, and system-level pump tech.
• Align technical roadmap with programme pipeline and manage dependencies and milestones.
• Translate market and customer needs into actionable engineering strategy for differentiation and value.
• Encourage prototyping, iterative learning, and data-driven decisions.
• Develop global engineering capability with rotational programs and diverse teams.
• Influence portfolio and program decisions with clear trade-offs and risk escalation.
