Job summary

EY UK is seeking an experienced litigator to join the Global General Counsel’s Office team. You will defend claims against EY, including professional malpractice, contract disputes, and securities class actions, and actively manage civil proceedings, mediations, arbitrations, subpoenas, and regulator inquiries.

You will develop defense strategies, advise on risk and compliance, coordinate with partners and outside counsel, and guide investigations while supporting EY’s global business across

Qualifications

• Autonomy in making difficult and nuanced decisions involving litigation, criminal, and regulatory matters.
• Experience as an attorney with significant litigation, including trial and related experience.
• Strong analytical abilities to synthesize facts and law to determine actions.
• Understand laws, rules, and regulations applicable to EY and its industry.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to interface with EY leaders and partners.
• Demonstrated ability to plan, execute projects and meet multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills to manage outside counsel effectively.

Responsibilities

• Handle all aspects of various litigation, enforcement matters and investigations, and internal investigations.
• Advise on cross-border matters or those with significant financial or reputational impact to EY.
• Consult with partners on potentially threatened litigation to avoid exposure.
• Coordinate responses to regulatory subpoenas and preservation requests with custodians and notices.
• Advise on professional responsibility and risk management issues (client acceptance, conflicts, retention, etc.).
• Formulate defense strategies and advise with stakeholders on defense decisions.
• Work with outside counsel and manage outside counsel spend.
• Conduct interviews of potential expert witnesses and personnel.
• Participate in mediations and settlements to resolve disputes cost-effectively.
• Prepare key litigation documents (briefs, pleadings, discovery requests).
• Prepare witnesses for testimony.
• Develop EY policies and positions on legal issues.
